Marrambidya River Fest Hailed A Huge Success

The Marrambidya River Fest, held at Fig Tree Park Darlington Point on Saturday, November 16 has been hailed a huge success.
This wonderful community event at Fig Tree Park, Darlington Point included an assortment of music, dance, bushtucker, workshops and more.
Communications Officer from Western Riverina Arts Zooey Korhonen said she was disappointed to have missed the festival, but said Executive Director. Aanya Whitehead was in attendance live streaming and thoroughly enjoying herself.
“Cultural festivals are incredibly important for our communities in my personal opinion,” Ms Korhonen said.
“In the Western Riverina we are blessed to have people willing and able to present these arts and culture sharing events to the wider community.
“I personally cannot wait to attend the next Marrambidya River Fest.”
Ms Korhonen invited anyone who missed out on the festival to head to their Facebook page and watch the livestreams for themselves.
Among the highlights, were performances by Burrundi Theatre dancers, Lawrence Barlow, Damien Thorne with Scar Tree band and Martin Cook with the mellow tones of his Celtic Harp.
Koori Kinnections bush tucker was also a huge hit, with Ms Whitehead unable to resist the Lemon Myrtle vegetable curry, declaring it “absolutely delicious”.
Traditional skills including basket weaving and possum skin workshops, and cultural games. face painting, a jumping castle, a pool disco, and a skating competition.
A DJ kept the festive spirit alive throughout the day.
The event was part of the Open Streets Festival and a prelude to the Warangesda Festival 2025.
