Meet your Neighbour – Cassandra McKay

How long have you lived in or around the Griffith area and what do you like about living here?
I was born and raised in Griffith. I’ve lived here my entire life. If I had to choose one thing I like about living here it is the generosity of the community as a whole. People here tend to lend a helping hand whenever someone is in need.

Where do you work and what do you like most about your work?
I just started with The Griffith Phoenix last week. I love writing and this role allows me to share other people’s stories. I also work with Live Better where my favourite part of the job is listening to the stories from clients and chatting with them about their lives. Then there’s Top Town servo where I enjoy working with some very nice individuals and fantastic customers.

What do you do to unwind after work or on weekends?
Now there’s a question. Time has been pretty tight recently, but I do love reading, listening to music, singing, crafting and spending time with family.

If you could have a superpower what would it be and why?
The ability to be in two places at the same time so that I could do all the things I’d like to do.

What advice would you give to your 13-year-old self?
I would probably tell myself to forget about trying to grow up too quickly and to enjoy my childhood for as long as I could.

Tell us about your best holiday ever.
I always enjoy my holidays but I guess my best holiday ever would have to be my trip to visit friends in the States.

What makes your day?
A good laugh usually does the trick.

I am actually an introvert.
