Meet your Neighbour – Debra Tuisamoa

How long have you lived in or around the Griffith area and what do you like about living here?
I have lived here since 2001. I love the country. Everyone is so friendly.

Where do you work and what do you like most about your work?
Avanna Polynesian. It is a family business owned by sisters. I am the manager. We sell some chips, but our focus is Polynesian food. We’ve only been open a short time, but we’re hoping the community will support us.

What do you do to unwind after work or on weekends?
We have seven children at home, all at school, but... we are open from Tuesday to Saturday. I attend the Samoan Assembly of God church.

If you could have a superpower what would it be and why?
The ability to last without sleep. We get up early to prepare food and we are open until 7pm. I get tired when things get slow.

What makes your day?
Family.
