How long have you lived in or around the Griffith area and what do you like about living here?
About 26 years. I love that the town is so multicultural. I like that you can get everything here and it isn’t crowded like cities like Sydney. I love the people. We nearly know everyone in town.
Where do you work and what do you like most about your work?
I first worked with the Bartter brothers. Baiada. Multiquip is a company that contracts with Baiada. I love my job because all through the Pandemic work was always available so I didn’t have to stop work. I like the bosses heading up the company. They’re easy to get along with.
What do you do to unwind after work or on weekends?
Doing something for someone else. Mow their lawn or take their rubbish to the tip. Mostly for the single mothers around our area and people who need help. Sharing food with the community.
If you could have a superpower what would it be and why?
I just wish I had enough money to build affordable accommodation that would be easily available for everyone.
What advice would you give to your 13-year-old self?
Don’t wag school. Always love and listen to your parents. Always try and be involved with something good. Volunteer work. It makes you happy when you’re involved in volunteer work.
Tell us about your best holiday ever.
I haven’t had one all these years. The best holiday is one that I am occupied in helping someone else. When I have time, I would like to teach young people the skills I have. I am a machine fitter and a welder. When I get the pension I might have the time to do that. It’s good for young people to have a trade in life.
What makes your day?
That my work is completed and the boss is happy. To get home and know that my job has been done successfully. Helping people.
