Murrumbidgee-Election

Both Mayor Ruth McRae OAM and Deputy Mayor, Robert Black retain their positions following this week’s mid-term council elections.

The September mid-term council elections were held at this week’s Council Meeting.

That meeting resulted in Mayor Ruth McRae OAM and Deputy Mayor Robert Black retaining their roles until the next ordinary election of Councillors.

Mayor McRae said it was a great honour to once again serve the Council and community.

“There have been so many highlights but I’m especially proud of how we work together as a Council and community to move our local area forward,” Mayor McRae said.

“The community spirit is what helps to drive our progress.

“We have a number of complex issues that we face as a community but we are focused on finding solutions together.

“We have completed a number of projects including the Coleamblly Community Hall where we met this week.

“These are instrumental in building on the qualities of our area as an exceptional place to live, work and play.”

Deputy Mayor, David Black said the role of Dupty Mayor was a reward one.

He said he looks forward to continuing to work with the community to achieve sustainable progressive outcomes for the whole Murrumbidgee Council Local Government Area.

The pair will hold their positions until the next ordinary election of Councillors, but not exceeding two years.
