Enjoy a mini zoo adventure to Altina Wildlife Park followed by a luncheon at the Darlington Point Sports Club as Murrumbidgee celebrate their seniors.

Murrumbidgee Council has a special series of events dedicated to celebrating seniors in the community.

Murrumbidgee Council Mayor Ruth McRae said throughout the month of May seniors were invited to join in festivities, which include a variety of engaging and enjoyable activities, all offered free of charge.

Mayor McRae said it was terrific to celebrate the wonderful seniors in our area, whose contributions have enriched our community immeasurably.

“Initiatives such as these not only allow us to recognise and appreciate the invaluable contributions of seniors but also provide opportunities for connection and enjoyment,” Mayor McRae said.

The festivities kick off with a morning tea and Olympics luncheon at the Jerilderie Sports Club on Thursday, May 2.

“We held a similar event last year which was a resounding success, so we are hoping for another great turnout this year,” Mayor McRae said.

The celebrations continue on Friday, May 3 with a free seniors movie at 1 pm at Jerilderie Library.

On May 15, Darlington Point will host a mini zoo adventure to Altina Wildlife Park, followed by a luncheon at the Darlington Point Sports Club.

Finally, on May 16, Coleambally will host a coffee morning and cake decorating workshop at the Coffee Nest Cafe, offering seniors the chance to showcase their creativity and enjoy some delicious treats.

All events are free of charge and open to seniors residing in the Murrumbidgee Council area.

Bookings can be made by calling Murrumbidgee Council on 1300 676 243 or visiting any of the council offices.
