Local solicitor, John Nikolic is the new Griffith Business Chamber President as of Thursday, October 20.
After 30 years serving on Chamber, outgoing President of Griffith Business Chamber, Paul Pierotti resigned, handing the baton to his incoming replacement, John Nikolic at the Annual General Meeting on Thursday, October 20.
“I’m pleased to see John stepping into this role,” Mr Pierotti said.
“He’s motivated and drive.
“Chamber is in good hands.”
A solicitor at Cater and Blumer, John Nikolic brings a wealth of knowledge to the role and is looking forward to the challenge.
“I intend to build on the legacy and great work by Paul Pierotti and the late Pat Pittavino,” Mr Nikolic said.
His vision for Chamber is to increase the social activities, especially for new professionals moving to Griffith.
“I’m keen to run another Business Awards and introduce more networking events, plus continue the seminars and presentations.”
Mr Nikolic said serious issues affecting the business community remained at the top of the agenda and a focus for the Chamber.
“The labour shortage is the biggest issue we face, which the recent ABC Four Corners program highlighted,” he said.
“There’s an opportunity for significant growth if businesses can access more labour.
“A Designated Area Migration Agreement is one piece of the puzzle and a step in the right direction.
“The Chamber has partnered with Regional Development Australia and Griffith City Council and will keep pursuing this project.
“Housing is also an area which the Chamber needs to keep an eye on and in which we hope to see improvement.”
Alycia McLean from ELM Aquatics joined Chamber in 2021 and has stepped into the role of Vice Presidenet stating she believes she has more to give.
“I’m really passionate about issues affecting our community and want to be involved in a wide range of aspects where I can,” Ms McLean said.
“The workforce and housing crisis is priority for us right now.”
