NRL players Luke Lewis (Sharks), Jeremy Latimore (Dragons), Terry Campese (Raiders), Steve Menzies (Sea Eagles) and Dene Halatau (Tigers) joined with WNRL players as advocates of the sport during the NRL’s 2021 Road to Regions campaign.

The tour involved a Junior Rugby League (JRL) Community Clinic, a specialised rugby league clinic involving school children playing tag footy and being taught various skills during teaching drills at Jubilee Oval and at schools.

They also worked with the Griffith Waratahs, Griffith Black & Whites, CDP Roosters and Yenda Blue Heelers.

The wider public got to meet with the stars at a cocktail night at Griffith Leagues Club on Monday.

The activities were geared toward improving the wellbeing of regional rugby league communities, especially those that are doing it tough.

Given no rugby league was played in Griffith during 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions to excite, the aim of the workshops was to unite and inspire our community.

Following a challenging year, the League Stars Inspire program with players both past and present delivered health and wellbeing messages through the NRL’s League Stars Inspire Program including physical activities, resilience, teamwork, inclusion and practising gratitude.

This is in lead up to the local rugby league season which starts in the coming months.
