The “2022 NSW Sommelier's Wine List Awards” is now open, with entries closing on the 19th April 2022.
This will be the third time the NSW Wine Industry Association (NSW Wine) has held these Awards and the organisation reports that each year they grow in strength and credibility. Last year one of the winners, Charred Bar and Kitchen, went on to claim a title at the Australia’s Wine List of the Year Awards, highlighting the quality of the judging process.
NSW Wine says that the aim this year is to get twice as many entries and give out even more trophies and prizes.
In 2022 NSW Wine will again welcome entries free-of-charge from restaurants, wine bars or pubs, across Sydney and regional NSW. It does not matter if these businesses are big or small, whether they accompany a 6-course degustation menu or just bar snacks: if the venue shows it supports local, then these Awards put them in with a chance of becoming a #nswwinestar finalist and winning some great prizes.
After the success of the inaugural Hotel category last year, the Awards will once again have a separate section for venues within hotels with 20+ rooms. In addition, another new category, Best Club Wine List, has been created, which focuses on venues that hold a club licence.
NSW Wine says “We are delighted to announce that the campaign we are doing within the On-Premise trade, which includes the NSW Sommelier's Wine List Awards, are working”. The latest report assessing the On-Premise performance of the NSW wine industry, commissioned by the NSW Wine and conducted by Wine Business Solutions, showed a 30 per cent increase in listings of NSW/ACT wines on NSW/ACT wine lists during the last 12 months.
