Have you ever found that sometimes you take things for granted and fail to appreciate what’s in front of your face?
Our Italian heritage may be a case in point. Did you know that over 60% of Griffith’s population claim Italian heritage? Griffith’s main street is dominated by Italian cuisine such as fabulous pizza, pasta, gnocchi, great coffee and delicious gelato, but it is the Italian History Museum that pays respect and honours our forebears. Located on 40 Remembrance Drive, Griffith, the Museum captures the story of the Italian migrants who moved to Griffith in the early 1900s to make a new life here. The exhibition includes a lovely display of vintage clothes, needlework, household items, sewing and knitting machines plus vintage bicycles. The exhibition also captures the towns and regions in Italy where the original settlers moved from. It is well worth a visit.
