More than $90 million worth of major projects are either underway, recently finalised or in the planning stages across the Griffith Local Government Area (LGA).

Griffith Mayor, Doug Curran said the wide range of projects being undertaken to upgrade, renew or build new infrastructure and facilities would improve the city and surrounding villages.

“Council recognises the community’s need for quality facilities and has invested significantly in projects that increase the liveability of Griffith,” Mayor Curran said.

“It’s been a busy period and it doesn’t look like we will be slowing down anytime soon.

“The long list of projects doesn’t include the multiple other road works that are also underway around the LGA or the other business-as-usual works that are carried out by Council.

There is also a lot of other activity and infrstructure development being undertaken around the city, including Griffith Base Hospital redevelopment.

Council’s major projects also include:

  • Hanwood Oval Amenities Building ($1.8M);
  • Yenda Oval Kiosk ($130K);
  • Mountain Bike Track ($500K);
  • Kooyoo Street upgrade Stages 1 and 2 ($4.09M);
  • Griffin Green Housing Project ($12.5M);

A map has been created to allow residents to view the comprehensive list of Council Projects over the 2022/23 financial year.

“Whether it’s the Southern Industrial Link Road, Barber Road, Collina Infrastructure or the Hanwood Flood Pump, the Reservoir Refurbishments, it is great to be able to deliver so many worthwhile projects to our community,” Mayor Curran said.
