Regional Travel Card

Residents urged to sign the petition to save the Regional Seniors Travel Card.

A petition has been launched to save the $250 cost-of-living support Regional Travel Card.

Duty MLC for Murray, Wes Fang said he hoped the petition would save the card from being axed in the upcoming budget.

The Regional Seniors Travel Card has become an important cost-of-living relief measure for seniors across the Murray electorate,” Mr Fang said.

“It helps seniors maintain their independence, allowing them to visit friends and family, travel for a doctor’s appointment, or head to the shops to pick up groceries.

“We need as many people as possible to back this petition to convince the Minns Government and the local member Helen Dalton, to keep fighting for and funding this important measure which recognises regional seniors do not have access to the same subsidised travel that city-based seniors access”.

Since 2020 more than one million cards have been issued, easing the cost of travel for seniors and injecting more than $196 million into regional economies.

“Whether it is a parent, a grandparent or another relative or friend, we all know someone who benefits from the Regional Seniors Travel Card, giving us more of a reason to protect it,” Mr Fang said.

“Over the coming weeks, I am asking people to share this petition far and wide to save the card so our seniors can continue to do the things they love and need to do.
