With people aged between 16 and 39 years now eligible for the Pfizer vaccine, Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network (MPHN) is expecting more community members to come forward.

MPHN Acting CEO, Julie Redway said it was critical that people remain patient when booking their appointments as demand was likely to increase.

“We understand with the eligibility criteria for the Pfizer vaccine now available for people aged between 16 and 39 years of age, demand on general practices and regional vaccine hubs will increase significantly,” Ms Redway said.

“We urge people to remain patient as there is likely to be a waiting period before a vaccination appointment.

“As new practices come on board with Pfizer vaccines this demand should be reduced over time making access to the vaccine easier and more attainable for everyone.”

MPHN’s COVID-19 Pandemic Lead, Dr Alison Koschel commended the incredible work and dedication of all staff who were working tirelessly to ensure the community is vaccinated as quickly as possible.

“General practice, Aboriginal Medical Service and vaccination hub staff throughout the Murrumbidgee region are working hard to ensure the community stays safe and gets vaccinated. Please be mindful and patient when booking appointments and getting your vaccination,” Dr Koschel said.

“Murrumbidgee region pharmacies are now participating in the COVID-19 national vaccination rollout and are vaccinating with the AstraZeneca vaccine (now known as Vaxzevria).”

Vaccination appointments can be made at participating Murrumbidgee region general practices, Aboriginal Medical Centres or Commonwealth vaccination hubs in Griffith, Wagga, Young, Gundagai and Deniliquin.

There are also participating pharmacies in Griffith, Leeton, Young, Harden, West Wyalong, Wagga, Temora, Gundagai, Lockhart, Deniliquin, Finley and Jindera.
