Plenty of vacation fun at PCYC

Local school kids have been counting down the days to their first vacation in 2021. Parents do not need to resort to pulling out their hair, as there are loads of fun and activities planned at PCYC to keep you sane and your kids entertained from April 5 to 16.
Club Manager Graeme Cotton said they are running two programs simultaneously.
“Our Vacation Care program will be operating every day of the school holidays, starting Tuesday 6th of April right through to 16th of April from 8:30am to 5:30pm,” he said.
“This program is for primary school-aged children and is staffed with qualified educators and is always fully utilised”.
PCYC is also looking to introduce a new school holiday program; which will run from 9am to 3pm on Tuesday and Wednesday the first week and Monday and Tuesday the second week of the holidays. Mr Cotton said it would include Easter egg hunts, gymnastics, little ninjas, dodgeball and many more fun and engaging activities.
“Keeping young people active and having fun is very important during the school holidays, so we have put a lot of effort into making sure we have activities everyone can enjoy,” Mr Cotton said.
PCYC is also getting on board with a couple of community events this Easter with Linking Community Networks and Centacare.
Events will include a free pool party on Wednesday, April 14 at the Griffith Regional Aquatic Centre. The second event will be a collaboration with Centacare to deliver a family fun day at the park at Parkinson Crescent.
As well as the vacation programs, PCYC runs activities for every age group starting with Kindygym that builds fine motor skills for the 2 to 5-year olds, a very popular gymnastics, martial arts, and a drop-in space with kids coming and going throughout the afternoon. They also have a safer drivers program, aimed at learner drivers, that has expanded to include Leeton.
Mr Cotton said the club would like to continue to expand and was recruiting to achieve a greater capacity to keep up with demand.
“They don’t have to be sportspeople, they just have to have good customer service skills,” he said.
If there is someone out in the community with a particular skill that they would be willing to share, perhaps they could create a program around it.
PCYC continue to play a prominent role within the community and have a unique fundraiser The StarJump Challenge organised for Youth Week, April 16 to 24. Community members are encouraged to join in and raise money to develop mental health programs for young people across New South Wales.
