Protect Your Health And Wellbeing This Christmas
Check your prescription medication to ensure you have enough to see you through the Christmas break.
Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network (MPHN) has encouraged Murrumbidgee residents to plan ahead to protect their health and wellbeing.
Help avoid unnecessary stress or complications during the Christmas and New Year period when health services may be limited, with a few proactive steps.
MPHN’s Senior Manager Integration Toni Preuss said it was helpful to make health preparation part of holiday planning.
“We often prioritise festive activities and travel plans at this time of year, but renewing prescriptions and addressing health concerns now can ensure you enjoy the season worry-free,” Ms Preuss said.
MPHN recommended checking regular medications to ensure you have enough to last through the holidays, as pharmacies and GP clinics may be closed or operating under reduced hours.
Have basic first aid supplies and key health contacts on hand for you and your family.
If you find it difficult to secure a GP appointment during the holiday period, try healthdirect, a free, government-funded 24-hour health service on 1800 022 222 or visit www.healthdirect.gov.au
MPHN’s GP Telehealth After-Hours Service, delivered by HealthAccess, offers out of hours GP care and advice for Griffith, the shires of Murrumbidgee and Leeton.

“Looking after your health is one of the best ways to ensure a relaxed and enjoyable holiday,” Ms Preuss said.
