Public Services to Honour ANZACS Go Ahead

Sunday marks the 106th anniversary of the Gallipoli landing, where so many of our ANZACS gave their lives.

On that day we will remember the sacrifices made by those who have put themselves between us and harm’s way. That is what our servicemen and women do when they head into battle on our behalf. Many of them have given their lives in defence of ours, for the freedoms we enjoy. For that sacrifice, they deserve our respect and gratitude.

Last year we were unable to commemorate the event in the traditional way, and though we are still limited due to Covid, Griffith will hold public services with limited numbers.

The dawn service will commence at 5:30 am, with gates opening at 5 am. There will be no time to linger as Covid restrictions demand that the park be cleared and entry points closed between the end of the dawn service and the commencement of the main service at 11 am.

Vietnam Army veteran, and member of the RSL Sub-Branch, Terry Walsh will stand as emcee for the event. Students from Murrumbidgee Regional High School and Marian Catholic College will take part in the service.

Important information:

  • There is no breakfast at the Exies after the Dawn Service due to Covid restrictions.
  • The Pipes and Drums Band from Sydney has been cancelled due to Covid restrictions.
  • There is no two-up at the Exies due to Covid restrictions.
  • Lunch at the Exies is a limited ticketed meal. Griffith RSL Sub-Branch will issue limited tickets.
  • The War Memorial Museum will be open immediately after the Main Service.
