The $625,000 infrastructure project on Railway Street is complete, providing much needed extra parking space within Griffith’s CBD.

A growing Griffith has a new public car park situated at the corner of Railway and Kooyoo Streets.

The $625,000 project was jointly funded by the Australian Government under the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program ($582k) and Griffith City Council ($43k).

The Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program supports local councils to deliver priority local road and community infrastructure projects across Australia, supporting jobs and the resilience of local economies to help communities bounce back from the COVID-19 pandemic.

There are 48 car spaces, including 18 shaded spaces, two accessible spaces and drainage works and landscaping at the new car park.

Griffith Mayor, Councillor Doug Curran said the construction of the car park was just another way Council was making living and working in Griffith easier.

“Providing parking within the CBD has long been recognised as a priority for the community and I am pleased to be able to announce that work has been completed, and the car park is accessible to road users,” Mr Councillor said.

“We appreciate the patience of the community and hope this new car park, along with the other car park completed in Railway Street last year, eases the parking congestion in the CBD.

“Griffith is thriving and this is just one of the many projects recently completed, underway or in the planning stages which will help grow Griffith into the future.”
