When the Rankins Springs CWA met in October, the ladies decided to once again contribute to the “Share the Dignity” campaign which provides personal necessities for women and teenage girls in crisis.
Group member, Ellen Walker said they gathered at the Rankins Springs Golf Club last week to put the bags together.
“We had placed a box requesting donations at the local garage and also asked members for donations of items such as shampoo and conditioner, toothbrushes and toothpaste, roll-on deodorant, body wash or soap and sanitary items,” Ms Walker said.
“Some very generous local ladies also donated over $150, allowing us to shop for more items.”
In the end, the group made up 14 bags for women and three bags for teenage girls, using good quality, donated previously owned handbags and home-sewn tote bags.
Each bag contained a few extras such as hand sanitiser, hand cream, tissues, bath sponges, emery boards and other goodies.
“Our members are very pleased to contribute to this very worthy cause and would like to thank everyone who donated goods or money,” Ms Walker said.
