School Holidays Full Of Fun
Get your kids involved in the great art workshops at the Griffith Regional Art Gallery.
There is no possibility of boredom during the April school holidays this year, with all that is on offer from art workshops, roller skating, animals, and music.
Griffith City Council Mayor, Doug Curran said families would be spoiled for choice with so much on the calendar.
“We would like to welcome visiting families to Griffith, but also encourage locals to make the most of all that is on offer and enjoy a staycation in our wonderful city,” he said.
Kids can experience what is to be active and zen - at the same time - with free yoga classes conducted by local instructor, Janine Murphy at Griffith City Library.
The library will also host printmaking and air dry clay workshops and free school holiday movies.
Bookings are required if you don’t want to miss out - www.wrl.eventbrite.com.au.
Creative children will love the Claude Monet-inspired painting classes at Griffith Regional Art Gallery facilitated by Tambourine Art Studio.
While at the gallery, check out Kim Gibbs’ exhibition, The Wandering Echidna, showcasing a collection of animal sculptures created from locally-sourced corrugated iron upcycled and saved from landfill.
Get in some of the live entertainment, from the international spectacular ‘Cirque Mother Africa’ for the older children to ‘The Wiggles’ for the littlies.
Book tickets via the theatre’s website at www.griffithregionaltheatre.com.au or drop in at the Box Office during business hours.
The kids can also burn off excess energy at City Park taking on the tallest climbing frame in the southern hemisphere, zooming around on the flying fox or exploring the expansive grounds.
Autumn is a beautiful time to take the kids outdoors to explore Cocoparra National Park or Hermit’s Cave on Scenic Hill.
You could also pack a picnic lunch and enjoy the picturesque views at Lake Wyangan picnic area, feed the deer and savour the down time with the family.
If the weather decides not to play nice, you can also take advantage of the activities at Family Fun Land, play a game of bowls at Star Bowling or catch a movie at Griffith City Cinemas.
Take a swim at Griffith Regional Aquatic Leisure Centre.
Of course, no school holiday would be complete without a gelati stop at one of the city's many eateries.
