Residents are urged to let Council know what they think about the proposal to permanently close Kooyoo Street between Banna Avenue and Banna Lane to vehicles in a short survey.

What do you think about closing Kooyoo Street Stage 1, between Banna Avenue and Banna Lane, to vehicle access?

That is the proposal currently on the table, with Council resolving at the meeting on February 14 to support in principle the permanent closure of the one-way road in the newly developed plaza near Kooyoo Street.

Now, with the completion date for Kooyoo Street Stage 2 looming, residents are urged to give their feedback to gauge the level of public support for the one-way road in Stage 1.

Should no submissions be received, Council will apply to Transport for NSW to move on the permanent closure.

Griffith Mayor, Doug Curran has urged all residents to provide their feedback.

“We’ve held Council Cafes at the new kiosk in Kooyoo Street and we have had mixed responses,” Mayor Curran said.

“Now we want to hear from more of the public.

“Council has invested in the upgrade of Kooyoo Street to enhance the CBD so it attracts patronage and activities within our main street.

“It has been suggested to enhance safety in this area the restriction of everyday vehicles could be positive for this new interactive space.

“Let us know what you think of the idea.”
