Shining Light On Power Of Community And Diversity In Aussies’ End Of Life Planning
Dying to Know Day events encourage people to talk about their end-of-life plans openly.
Dying to Know Day will be celebrated across the Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) on Thursday, August 8.
The event aims to shine a light on the power of community in helping to eliminate the discomfort of talking about death and dying, and encouraging individuals to talk about their own unique final arrangements.
This year’s focus is around personalised final arrangements and building community.
To mark this annual event, MLHD Specialist Palliative Care, a partnership with Local Health Advisory Committees, will be holding aseries of informative talks across the District.
MLHD Palliative Care Nurse Manager, Judith Reid said they wanted to call out the powerful role that community plays in supporting conversations around death and dying, this year, and to encourage each person to share their unique stories, ideas and opinions on what truly matters in their end-of-life plans.
Everyone is invited to attend the Dying to Know Day events, which will be held at:
Barham Riverside Reception Venue - Thursday, August 8 from 10 am to 12 pm;

Each year, a growing number of Australians participate in the Dying to Know Day campaign by bringing together their community for in-person and online events.
Dying to Know Day events aim to encourage Australians to “get dead set” by initiating conversations around death and dying and help individuals to plan and talk about their final arrangements.
The campaign offers resources and workshops to help Australians plan their own events and helps individuals thinking about their own final arrangements.
