Hit the road in an RV for a trip around the regions, help boost tourism and maybe walk away with $1 million.

Do you enjoy pulling the RV out and taking a trip around the countryside?

This could be your lucky day because one camper will earn a chance to win $1M simply by enjoying a road trip.

The Caravan Industry Association of Australia launched a camping and regional road trip tourism campaign on June 1 to help support the country’s tourism.

“Road to a Million’ is designed to help tourism and regional businesses recover after COVID.

Fewer people travel around through the winter months, further limiting some businesses’ ability to recover to pre-Covid levels.

There are 840,000 registered RVs in Australia and more than 1405 caravan parks across the nation.

Aussies have fallen in love with camping and reconnecting with the simpler things in life, so the idea is to encourage people to take a winter trip.

One avid local camper, Robyn Hore said there was so much more to our amazing and beautiful country than what you could see in the brochures.

“Small country towns have so much to offer, often going the extra mile for visitors to their area,” Mrs Hore said.

“The friendliness, beautiful, varied and often-stark countryside, towns that welcome RVs often providing free and low-cost camping facilities right in town.

“Businesses are appreciative and willing to help you out, often directing you to another business if necessary.

“These towns, providing low-cast camping, are where we buy our fuel, food and little extras.

“By supporting small communities in this way, we are enabling them and their families to stay in their local area.”

Taking one extra trip this winter would support regional tourism and put money directly into the hands of small businesses.

To enter campers need to book a stay at a participating caravan holiday park or with a participating RV rental business between June 1 and October 31.

Campers earn one point for each night of their booking, but entries receive a multiplier depending on how far from the state capital they are staying.

If you rent an RV and stay at a caravan park fill out the entry form separately for both bookings; do the same if you stay at more than one caravan park.

Five winners will be drawn from the pool of entries randomly on November 22.

The first person drawn will be given the major prize which is a one-in-250 chance draw to win $1M cash.

If they miss the big win, they will take home $5000 in travel vouchers.

Four runners-up will receive $1000 in travel vouchers. A full list of participating caravan holiday parks can be found at www.roadtoamillion.com.au.

Complete the entry form and submit your information on the home page of the website.
