The Vinegar Factory is expanding operations thanks to $260,000 courtesy of NSW Government’s Regional Job Creation Fund.

A family business in Yenda is among three in the Murray electorate to receive funding from the NSW Government’s Regional Job Creation Fund.

The Vinegar Factory has received $260,000 to fund a new bottling line for food and beverage processing.

Sam Marando said that he thought someone was having a joke when he received a call to inform him that The Vinegar Factory had been successful in round 2 of the NSW Government’s Regional Job Creation Fund.

“I was in shock,” he said.

“I hung up on her.

“I told her to stop joking and she said, “Please listen to me”.

“I’m tickled pink.”

The Vinegar Factory’s story began on the Maranda family farm.

Sam said that his father had tried his hand at creating wine, using produce from the farm, but it seemed that all his wine tasted like vinegar.

“The children just said, “Why don’t we just make vinegar?”.

“We’ve been going for a good 10 years.

“The kids were just mucking around in the beginning.”

Well, their mucking around has turned into a unique, and profitable venture.

Along with her delicious balsamic vinegar, apple cider vinegar and olive oil products, they produce a small range of flavoured apple cider vinegar drinks, Up The Combi, which have proven to be quite popular.

The funding will allow them to construct a new bottling line so that they can bottle their own products.

It will also create five new positions, with space for up to ten jobs over time.

The Phoenix will be catching up with The Vinegar Factory as work progresses.

Until then, you can find their products at a few local venues, such as Rossies Supermarket or check out their website.

Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW, Paul Toole said the NSW Government’s $140 million Regional Job Creation Fun is on track to create over 6,500 new direct jobs in regional NSW by helping businesses expand production and provide incentives to move operations to the bush.

“The Regional Job Creation Fun continues to attract new investment from businesses and enable economic recovery across agriculture, manufacturing and tourism industries and ensure they continue to thrive now and into the future,” Mr Toole said.

“This fund allows businesses to fast-track their growth plans, expand their operations and creates a solid base for job creation in regional NSW.

“This funding exemplifies the NSW Government’s commitment to build robust regional economies, which is giving businesses, employees and their families confidence in the growth and prosperity of regional NSW.”
