Time To Plan And Prepare Your Property For Fire Safety Is Now
Being fire safe is your responsibility, plan and prepare now to ensure your property is fire safe.
Fire season has not even arrived yet, but already many fires have broken out across the state.
There were numerous grass and structure fires in the MIA this week.
A grass fire at Lake Wyangan on Boorga Road, with mild weather conditions (22 degrees celsius, 20 km winds and 60 percent humidity) impacted 20 hectares of land.
Crews from Lake Wyangan and Hanwood RFS Brigades, along with FRNSW 311 Station attended repeat calls to the incident, due to the wet area making access to the scene very difficult.
Another 100 square metre grass fire on Hamilton Road also impacted a shed on the property.
There have also been a number of fires around Rifle Range Road since Monday, August 26.
These fires highlight that even though the weather is cooler and the environment is wet with a lot of green growth, fires are still possible.
Don’t delay, start planning and preparing your property to be fire safe.
Property owners are reminded to notify the Rural Fire Services prior to conducting a controlled burn.
Everyone should visit www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/safeburning before lighting a fire.
