With many restrictions lifted, perhaps now is the time to think about exploring a new adventure.

The Griffith Croquet Club meets Sundays, Tuesdays and Fridays each week.

Games commence at 1.30pm at the moment, but times change with the weather. As the weather warms, games will be played in the morning rather than the afternoon.

Croquet is played outdoors on the lawn with a mallet and ball. Players use their mallet to score points by knocking their ball through the wickets. Each player must pop their ball through each of the wickets.

As with other sports, croquet has plenty of health benefits, not least of all is getting the body moving. The benefits are not just physical, either. Getting out in the fresh air, exercising and socialising with friends are also great for your mental health.

Games are played on the old bowling green adjacent to the Griffith Visitor Information Centre, and start times are listed on the Facebook Griffith Croquet page or you can phone 6964 6931.

Participants share a bring-your-own morning or afternoon tea after the first two games.

Equipment, including mallets, is available for anyone wanting to try their hand at the game and make a few new friends.
