A new upgrade to the Return and Earn machine at Leeton Woolworths is making it even easier to recycle your cans, bottles and containers.

No more pre-sorting your containers at the Return and Earn machine at Woolworths Leeton - you can now just drop all your eligible drink containers through a single chute at the updated machine.

CEO of TOMRA Cleanaway, network operator for Return and Earn, James Dorney said the upgrade made it even easier for Leeton residents to return and earn.

“Leeton Shire Council residents are already enthusiastic recyclers, having returned more than 32.7 million eligible bottles, cans and cartons through local return points since the scheme began,” Mr Dorney said.

“These improvements to local return points will make it even easier and quicker to return your eligible bottles and cans and pocket the refund.”

Recyclers can still print a voucher for the refund amount, which can be redeemed for cash at Woolworths, or they can opt for an e-voucher or payment directly into their bank or PayPal account using the Return and Earn app.

Locals can also donate their refund to one of over 300 donation partners listed on the Return and Earn app, or to the current statewide donation partner Foodbank NSW & ACT.

Return and Earn has become a key fundraising channel for many charities and community groups in NSW.

Over $62 million has been raised from donations and fees from hosting return points since the scheme launched in 2017.

More than 12.5 billion drink containers have been returned for recycling through the network of over 650 return points across the State since Return and Earn began, resulting in over $1.25 billion in container refunds back into people’s pockets.

“I encourage everyone in the region to continue to make Return and Earn a part of your routine,” Mr Dorney said.

“Together, we are all contributing to a more sustainable future, where the materials that our bottles, cans and cartons are made of are kept in use and out of landfill.”

The machine at Woolworths Leeton is open daily from 7 am to 10 pm.
