Being a parent can be one of life’s greatest blessings - it can also offer up some challenges that require some outside assistance.

Tresillian In Murrumbidgee Family Care Centre believes that every child deserves the best start in life possible and parents should have access to top quality support regardless of their bank balance, social standing or culture.

Lynda Franks, from Aztec Farms and member of the Griffith CWA, decided to host a fundraiser for the not-for-profit organisation. “The CWA had a focus on maternal health and rural health,” Ms Franks said.

“Helen Dalton was the one who made me aware of the fact that Tresillian were seeking a space in Griffith, which they have now found.

“There are a lot of services out there that have made a lot of money by handing out parenting advice online.

“These guys deserve a heads up.”

The fundraiser, a vintage high tea, will take place at Griffith CWA Hall at 129 Banna Avenue on Friday, March 17 from 1 pm to 3 pm.

“We’re currently renovating the CWA Hall,” Ms Franks said.

“It is going to look wonderful.

“There is a real need for services locally, particularly in the area of health.

“To have a service like this is great.

“They offer a holistic service, working with the whole family.

“We’re lucky that they’re here.”

CWA traditionally do the mother and baby packs, but most of them are sent overseas to places like Papua New Guinea, but there is a need locally.

After speaking with hospital staff and midwives, Lynda learned that there more than a few mothers who would greatly benefit from the emergency mother and baby packs.

They have now dropped some packs to the hospital and the Women’s Refuge.

Helen Dalton will be in attendance at the fundraiser.

Seats are limited and bookings are essential.
