NSW Nationals Duty MLC for Murray, Wes Fang pushes for The Stronger Country Communities Fund to remain in force for regional communities.

The Stronger Country Communities Fund (SCCF) is under threat.

That means vital community projects right across the region are in jeopardy.

The good news is that NSW Nationals Duty MLC for Murray and Wagga Wagga, Wes Fang has urged the Minister for Regional NSW, Tara Moriarty to stand up for communities in the bush and roll out the $90 million in funding that had been set aside by the previous for the next round of the program.

Mr Fang said he hoped that Chris Minns and Tara Moriarty had the opportunity to hear from locals about how much benefit their community has received from our Stronger Country Communities Fund programs.

“Every day we’re reminded of the success of this program, and how it has made a really meaningful difference to the lives of people living in communities all across the Riverina and Murray regions,”

“In the most recent round alone, this fund contributed $1,145,132 for stage four of the Yambil Street redevelopment in Griffith, $180,000 for the refurbishment of the Hay Medical Centre, and $429,208 for upgrades at Bolton Park in Wagga.

NSW Nationals leader and Shadow Minister for Regional NSW Dugald Saunders said the Stronger Country Communities Fund was an important program that provided the infrastructure required to ensure regional communities thrived.

Since it was established in 2017, the program had seen $660 million invested into more than 2500 projects across the bush.

“It’s been vitally important for regional communities,” Mr Saunders said.

“We know in some cases there are projects that simply wouldn’t exist if it wasn’t for the funding the former Coalition government invested into this program.
