Griffith City Council has announced that work will soon begin on the long-awaited rejuvenation of Memorial Gardens.
Works are expected to be completed end of October 2024.
To minimise disruption to members of the public using the park, the project will be done in small portions. A significant portion of the flora will consist of native species.
Chair of the Memorial Gardens Embellishment Committee, Councillor Laurie Testoni, said he was happy to see the commencement of the project.
"After months of meticulous planning and collaboration, we are excited to announce that the enhancement works will soon be underway," said Councillor Testoni.
"With a limited budget we hope to add more colour by upgrading plants within the park. A couple of extra pathways will also be added and we hope these eliminate the unfortunate foot traffic through the existing garden beds.
“We are confident that these improvements will enhance Memorial Gardens and look forward to seeing the end result.”
