President of the Griffith Golf Club, Robin Salvestro was thrilled with the first junior clinic last Sunday.

“It was exciting to see our new season Griffith Golf Club Juniors Clinic successfully ‘drive off’ with 30 juniors attending,” Mr Salvestro said.

“Our new enthusiastic professional, Brad Wright, conducted the first clinic with the assistance of Dane Sutcliffe. Brad comes to the Club with a wealth of experience in junior coaching and exciting new ideas which will reignite and boost our juniors numbers.”

Club professional Brad Wright is looking forward to continuing with, and expanding, the clinics.

“We had 30 plus kids, which was great,” he said.

“I expect it to expand. I think they had fun.”

Mr Wright was quick to point out that the clinics were not just a group of kids standing around waiting to hit a ball.

“We do a lot of motor skills and hitting balls,” he said.

“We make it interesting and happy so they get the bug.”

Having spent over two decades at the Long Bien Club in Hanoi, Vietnam, Mr Wright has worked with a diverse range of children and is looking forward to fostering a love of the game with local youngsters.

The clinics are a free introduction to golf, in an effort to share the sport with potential young players. Wright is hoping to get to know the parents of the children shortly and get a social interaction going, with regular barbecues and get-togethers.

Clinics will be conducted every Sunday at 9am and 10.30am and numbers are limited, so bookings are essential.

Phone Brad on 0452 592 178 or 6962 3742 to book.
